Tackling tough issues can be tricky. Sometimes it’s hard to wade through complex policy talk.  WIPPS aims to cut through the  jargon, making tough topics easier to understand. We offer a wide variety of programs, presented by skilled experts, on topics such as health care, water quality, returning civility to politics, religion and politics and poverty in Wisconsin.

Here is a sampling of WIPPS programs that help re-energize civic involvement.

VENINGA LECTURE SERIES ON RELIGION AND SOCIETY

Religion and politics may seem an unlikely pairing - like fire and water. However, Jim Veninga, former UW-Marathon County dean, religious studies professor and a founding father of WIPPS, created this annual lecture series to help engage people on faith and politics.

How do we solve the ever-rising national debt? Is health care a right or a privilege? Can civility and compromise return to our political process?

New Neighbors

In 2022, Central Wisconsin welcomed more than 175 refugees from countries like Afghanistan, Congo, Syria and Burundi. In addition, an unknown number of immigrants arrived here seeking asylum from places such as Nicaragua and Venezuela.
