College and Career Visit

WIPPS, John Muir Middle School, and Horace Mann Middle School in Wausau are collaborating with UW-Stevens Point at Wausau to invite all 8th grade students to the campus to learn about the importance of a college degree, staying in school, doing well in school and graduating from high school.

Students will participate in hands-on activities that will prove strategies for the students to be successful in high school as well as plan for their future. (Our definition of college is any type of accredited postsecondary institution.)

Many low-income middle school students may think college is unaffordable or unattainable. One way to increase college awareness, especially for low-income and/or first generation students, is to bring students to college campuses so they can see for themselves what college is all about.
