Paris has appeared on the worldwide stage with performers as diverse as Alicia Keys, Bobby McFerrin and Chick Corea.
Classically trained on the Qanun, which originates from the ancient Egyptian harp, Paris has earned critical acclaim in the Middle East and abroad for more than a decade. At age 23, he is already an established musical artist – crossing over from classical Arabic music to a variety of genres including flamenco, jazz and electronica.
Joining Paris on the stage will be UW-Stevens Point music faculty Ryan Korb, jazz percussionist, and Tom McComb, jazz and Brazilian guitarist.
The performance is free to the public. The audience is invited to a “talk back” after the concert to speak to Paris about his music and his musical journey.
Paris’ performance is part of the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service’s Cultural Engagement Series.
RSVPs, while not required, are greatly appreciated.
