Central Wisconsin High School Leadership Graduation 2025
Last week WIPPS celebrated the graduation of 48 students from the Central Wisconsin High School Leadership Program.
The High School Leadership Program connects high school sophomores and juniors in Central Wisconsin with local businesses and community organizations to develop leadership skills through workshops, retreats, and community service projects.
Throughout the program, students visit and engage with local employers and civic institutions such as Greenheck Fan Group, Incredible Bank, Marathon County, NTC, and the Wausau City Council, giving them firsthand exposure to leadership opportunities within our region.
The ceremony included guest speaker former Marathon County District Attorney Theresa Wetzsteon, student presentations of class community service projects, and a recognition of graduates. This year’s community service projects included a supply drive for The Women’s Community (a local women’s shelter), assisting the Humane Society staff by caring for the animals, and visits to local senior centers.
One highlight of the program is going to the YMCA Camp Manito-wish, where students conquered their fears by experiencing the high and low ropes courses including learning to rappel—an activity that embodies the program’s goal of pushing students beyond their comfort zones while building confidence and trust.
The program serves another crucial purpose: showcasing that Central Wisconsin offers meaningful leadership and career opportunities for young people. By connecting students with local leaders and organizations, we’re addressing the challenge of youth retention in our region and demonstrating that fulfilling professional paths exist right here in Central Wisconsin.
Thank you to all of the students who participated in this year’s program, everyone who came out to support the students, our guest speaker, and all of the organizations who sponsor or partner with WIPPS to provide this fantastic opportunity for local students.
Registration for the 2025-2026 High School Leadership term will open in May 2025. To learn more about the program, how to get involved, or how to support our work, visit: https://wipps.org/programs/cwhsl/
