“Naming and Framing Current Issues” is the topic of a Friday Forum discussion set for 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, in the Lecture Hall at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Mequon Campus, 5555 W. Highland Road.

During the 7:30-9 a.m. introductory session, participants will discuss how properly naming and framing contentious contemporary issues can lead to effective dialog, deliberation and decision making. From 9:15-11:30 a.m., participants will work through a difficult current issue chosen by attendees. Some topics to be considered for discussion are redistricting, natural resources, gun violence or judicial elections.

Eric Giordano, director, and John Greenwood, outreach consultant, both of the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service, will be the presenters. Moderators include Lucia Francis, vice president of MATC’s Mequon Campus; Tom Meaux, Ozaukee County administrator; and Dorothy Boyer, League of Women Voters of Ozaukee County.

A $5 per-person charge covers light refreshments. For more information or reservations, please contact Sandra Webster by Thursday, April 4, at (262) 238-2205 or websters@matc.edu.

Friday forums are co-sponsored by the Mequon Campus of Milwaukee Area Technical College and Ozaukee County, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Extension, INVEST and other community groups. The series advances regional progress by bringing key people together to solve problems, share information and build relationships.
