Learning about people from other backgrounds does not mean giving up who you are, said Wausau resident Lisa Lopez at a recent Toward One Wausau community discussion about diversity.
Lopez was among a group of 15-plus people at the First Universalist Unitarian Church of Wausau on Monday night participating in a deliberation on diversity, one of many conversations fostered by Toward One Wausau. Two public conversations happened Monday, three more are scheduled for the coming weeks.
Eventually, the group will compile opinions from these sessions and from surveys and share a report on local values and action steps to promote a welcoming community.
