VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) will offer free tax assistance to low-income, handicapped and elderly individuals in Marathon County. Now in its seventh year, VITA helps individuals and families keep their whole tax refund, without using a portion of it to pay for tax return preparation.

Interested individuals can make appointments starting January 15. The tax preparation sessions will be held every Tuesday (Feb. 2-April 12) from 2-8 p.m. and every Saturday (Feb. 6-April 9) from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the UW Center for Civic Engagement in Wausau. New this year: A child-friendly space for parents who need to bring their children, and a free financial consulting service.

For more information, contact Leo Moua, VITA coordinator, at leo.moua@uwc.edu or 715-261-6104.

This program is sponsored by WIPPS, UW-Marathon County and Wisconsin Business Development.
