Meet the H2N Team: Ann Vang
Ann Vang
H2N Hmong Community Health Worker
Why did you get involved with H2N?
I saw that the HMoob community was not fully understanding what Covid is and how to prevent it and had many questions about masks and mandates. Not just in the public, but for their children as well.
What changes have you seen in the type of work H2N does since joining?
H2N has been amazing to the HMoob community in the fact that they have been coming together to offer free covid clinics and providing much needed support.
What is the most rewarding part of working with H2N? What is the most challenging part?
Most rewarding thing is to see my community becoming more knowledgeable about Covid and masks. The most challenging part is to be well informed and yet have family members not take Covid seriously.
What persistent obstacles have you noticed during your work with H2N?
The CDC changing quarantine/isolation guidelines and language
If you are still considering a career path, has the work you’ve done with H2N impacted what you want to do in the future?
H2N is actually a part of what I wanted to be doing, so it definitely is helping me move in the direction I need to.
What role do you see for organizations like H2N in the future of public health in this country?
Having cultural specific individuals doing the work in their community, those that have passion is truly something we should be honored to have in our area.
