Sheng Khang
Hello! Nyob Zoo!
My name is Sheng and I am the Coordinator for the Hmong Team.
Aside from overseeing team members’ projects, I am a trainer for two crucial workshops: Healthy Living with Diabetes and Bingocize. I am bilingual in English and Hmong and I get to use these skills at the Wausau Free Clinic as the Hmong interpreter. Coordinating events/clinics for the team are always challenging and fun as well!
Most rewarding
The most rewarding thing about H2N is that I get to provide community members with health resources and services. In addition, I enjoy working with my colleagues who share similar background like me.

I love to assemble furniture! And whenever I need to speed count–I always count in the Hmong language!
Zia Chang

My name is Zia and I am a Hmong Community Health Worker.
I am new to the team. The roles I will be serving are as the facilitator for Bingocize and the Health Navigator for H2N.
Most rewarding
I’ve only been here for a few weeks, but I’ve already noticed how supportive the team is. Everyone has been really welcoming, and I’ve appreciated the opportunity to learn from my colleagues. It’s rewarding to see how passionate everyone is about their work, and I’m excited to contribute to our goals moving forward.
Fun Fact
I love to travel and try different foods, and I enjoy capturing those moments with my camera. I’m also a florist and a huge Packers fan!

Miah Medina

My name is Miah and I am the Social Media coordinator for H2N.
As the Social Media Coordinator, a large part of my job deals with managing data and our social media accounts. I also help with coordinating events from time to time, just not as often as my fellow team members.
Most rewarding
The most rewarding part of the work I do is working together with both different and like minded people with the common goal of bettering the communities that we work with. I’ve always wanted to help people and being able to do that in a way that impacts my hometown and other communities in the state brings me an immense amount of joy.
Fun Fact
I have had the same favorite animal since I was a little girl, which is the Sea Manatee. I have seen the animal in person a few times so far in my life and they hold a special place in my heart.

Corrie Norrbom

Hello, my name is Corrie Norrbom. I have been the Project Director and Medical Advisor for the H2N and R2N projects since we began in the Spring of 2020.
I have written grants to fund H2N/R2N projects. I have also given many influenza vaccinations at our pop-up clinics and help the team with blood pressure and diabetes screenings.
Most rewarding
I really enjoy getting out into the community to help with vaccinations and health screenings. It is wonderful to see the amazing work that the community health workers are doing in planning events, building relationships and assisting people in accessing health services and resources.

I worked in New Zealand as a rural general practice physician.
Joel Gomez

My name is Joel and I am a Community Health Worker.
I assist with pop up clinics, provide training, interpreting and any other community projects as needed.

Mariana Savela

My name is Mariana and I am the H2N Program Manager.
I lead various H2N projects along with many other projects with community organizations and I oversee the budget to ensure that expenses are attributed to the correct grants. As a Certified Health Navigator, I support consumers in navigating complex healthcare systems.
Most rewarding
Collaborate with numerous community organizations and work with people from different professional backgrounds, cultures, and talents. I love that I can balance working in the community and advancing health equity while sharing about my culture learning from others in the team and with the people we collaborate with. Another bonus is that I can use my expertise in Finance to help with the project’s financial aspects.
Fun Fact
I love to play volleyball. I finally joined a women’s league at the beginning of September. I am also a volunteer with the Folklorico Group as a hobby and to promote my culture.
Yingyakia Vang

My name is Yingyakia Vang and I am a Community Health Worker for H2N.
I assist the team with events and help design flyers. I am also a trainer for the Healthy Living with Diabetes workshop and am the AHmong Us Program Coordinator. In addition, I am also the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Equiflow project and I work with the community to get Wausau lead-free!
Most rewarding
The most rewarding part of working with H2N is connecting with the community and ensuring that we can lead them to the right resources that they need. Since I have started working with H2N, I have seen how we can positively impact our communities. I also love working with like-minded people who have a passion for this kind of community work like I do.
Fun Fact
I love Hmong dancing! It has always been a passion of mine since I was a kid and has shaped me into the person that I am today. It’s a great stress reliever and allows me to keep my cultural identity intact.
