Jim McCluskey, Ph.D.

Jim McCluskey, Ph.D., is an associate professor of geography at UW-Marathon County and the UW Colleges Online. He is also chair of the Geography and Geology Department for the UW Colleges. Previously, he was a professor of geography and geology at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. He was director of the Geographic Information System (GIS) Center for Clarksville/Montgomery County, Tennessee, and coordinator of the Environmental Geography Program at Austin Peay. He has also served as the GIS manager for Maxim Technologies, a national environmental and engineering firm.

Dr. McCluskey’s research expertise is geographic information science, quantitative methods, environmental management, natural hazards, geomorphology, and business geographics. He also has done extensive research in population and medical geography. He has worked with the U.S. National Park Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Small Business Administration, U.S. Geological Survey and Natural Resources Conservation Service as well as numerous state and local agencies and corporations. Corporate clients have included Canadian National Railroad, Koch Pipeline Company, Chevron and Kraft. He has more than 100 publications in international, national and regional forums. He received his Ph.D. in geography from Rutgers University.
