Marty Finkler, Ph.D.

Marty is Emeritus Professor of Economics at Lawrence University and a WIPPS Senior Economics Policy Fellow.  Currently, he is involved in the Fox Valley Health Care Initiative which seeks and studying the relationship between income and affordability of both medical insurance and medical services in an effort to change the governance and operation of health systems in the region. Overall, Marty’s work has centered on analyses of root causes of health inequities and he is also working on statistical estimates of the relationship between socio-economic, behavioral, clinical, and physical/environment factors that affect health status and health outcomes. His expert work has been used and cited by state and local government, businesses, and health organizations around the country. He worked as a consultant for Kaiser Permanente evaluating the perinatal program offered at the 10 hospitals in KP’s Southern California region.  His research and analyses have been published in several journals in his field.
