Kevin Hermening joins WIPPS Board
Kevin Hermening, managing partner of Hermening Financial Group, LLC., recently joined the WIPPS Board of Advisors.
Since 1989, Kevin has operated his own financial planning firm with offices in Eau Claire, Wausau, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids and Manitowoc.
A native of Oak Creek, a Milwaukee suburb, Kevin enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school. It was during a tour of duty at the U.S. Embassy in Iran that he was taken hostage and held for 444 days (1979-81), the youngest of the 52 American hostages. He has spoken about this experience to more than 3,000 audiences.
“While it might seem that in the current political environment it is more important than ever that organizations like WIPPS thrive,” Kevin said, “it is always important to have good community engagement and knowledge among our citizenry on issues of public policy.”
He considers the right to vote the “greatest privilege enjoyed by American citizens. How can we make good choices if we are not informed? WIPPS needs to be the voice of a community needing better answers.”
As a new board member, he is excited about “getting up to speed quickly, learning about the path that the other board members have laid down before me, and standing beside them to help make WIPPS into an even more respected organization.”
A graduate of UW-Stevens Point, Kevin and his wife, Wendy, have two daughters, Kacey and Kaitlyn. A Mosinee resident, Kevin served many years on the Mosinee School Board. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, golf, softball, bowling and travel.
