Workshop: I Can Problem Solve

How can educators enhance their connection with young students? And how can using different language approaches help complement students’ cognitive and social development?
As a result of a collaboration between the School District of Athens, Wisconsin, and WIPPS, 10 staff members from the Athens Elementary and Middle Schools will explore these ideas in an “I Can Problem Solve” (ICPS) workshop on Thursday, August 11, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Athens Elementary School, 601 W. Limit Rd., Athens.
The ICPS workshop will be facilitated by Stephanie Roy, a consultant from the Center for Safe Schools and Communities in Pennsylvania. Topics will include:
- ICPS vocabulary
- Identifying feelings and preferences
- Listening and paying attention
- Sequencing and timing of events
- Alternative solution thinking
- Consequential thinking
- Means-end thinking (Schleasequential planning 8 yrs.+)
