What IF?Join a Discussion on Merrill’s Future

Here’s your chance to be a part of “Constructing the Future of Greater Merrill,” a civil, open and entertaining discussion weighing Merrill’s assets and challenges, beginning with the future of our “built community.”

Attend either of two sessions at T.B. Scott Library in Merrill on Thursday, October 20, 5-7:30 p.m. or Friday, October 21, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Each session starts with a light dinner/lunch, followed by conversation and idea exchanging. (Note: Thursday’s session will end promptly at 7:30 p.m. so Packer fans will only miss the opening minutes of the Bears game.)

Fair-game topics for the “built community” discussion will include Merrill’s existing housing situation, building code enforcement, how historic buildings are valued and ways to encourage rehabilitation and new construction.

These discussion sessions will provide an opportunity to talk in small groups, with facilitators listening and taking notes, to share, listen and explore issues big and small. Consensus and decisions are not expected – the goal is to bring ideas out into the open.

Reservations are not required, but will be greatly appreciated to help with meal and program planning. Call WIPPS at 715-218-0284 or the library at 715-536-7191 to make a reservation. There is no admission fee for this event.

The IF (Interactivity Foundation) Community Discussions are part of T.B. Scott Free Library’s Words Worth Hearing Series, with support from the library and the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy (WIPPS). Call the library at 715-536-7191 or visit W.T.B. Scott Library website to learn more about library events and services.
