Young leaders from around the world will share their experiences from the frontlines of the defense of democracy and human rights.

The presentation, titled “The Frontlines of Democracy: Stories from a New Generation of Leaders,” will be held October 30 at UW-Milwaukee, with livestream attendance available.

Event speakers will share their experiences in conflict zones around the world and the obstacles faced in the pursuit of democracy and human rights. Their inspiring stories will underline the importance for the next generation of Americans to be active in American democracy and support democracy and human rights around the world.

Speakers include:
• Sunny Cheung: A veteran democracy advocate, Sunny Cheung co-founded Flow HK Media and has extensive experience in international advocacy, having mobilized mass movements in Hong Kong, advised governments, and co-established the World Liberty Congress to fight transnational repression.
• Hager Eissa: Hager Eissa is an influential Sudanese activist with deep experience in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and women’s empowerment, recognized for her leadership roles in international platforms like the Obama Foundation and Global Peace Chain.
• Dr. Mariia Levchenko: With expertise in dialogue facilitation and peacebuilding, Dr. Mariia Levchenko leads outreach efforts at the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding and has educated young people and refugees on conflict resolution, while founding an NGO focused on global progress.
• Takudzwa Ngadziore: As a former student leader and now a Member of Parliament in Zimbabwe, Takudzwa Ngadziore has spearheaded youth-focused political campaigns and initiatives, using his experience in democratic governance and human rights to shape policies for equitable development.
