Toward One Wausau: Public Deliberation
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Location: Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church
Address: 503 Schmidt Avenue, Rothschild WI
As Wausau and the surrounding communities have become more diverse, people have more opportunities to learn about cultures, lifestyles and views different from their own. At the same time, the community has been exposed to real ethnic and cultural diversity issues.
A grassroots effort, called “Toward One Wausau,” was launched last fall. Its aim – for the Wausau area to “talk openly and listen earnestly” to community members from all walks of life, with the ultimate goal to make the greater Wausau area a safe, welcoming and attractive place for a diverse people.
These conversations will look at relevant facts and values from many points of view – talking civilly and openly to one another. Toward One Wausau will recognize the underlying tensions and tough choices that go along with complex public issues. Click here for details on Toward One Wausau.
After the community dialogues are finished, Toward One Wausau will hold a community event in early summer to announce action plans that will result from these dialogues.
