NCCAP AmeriCorps Program Evaluation

The North Central Community Action Program (NCCAP) AmeriCorps organization reached out to WIPPS Research Partners to assist with a three-year program evaluation study in order to assess and improve program impact as well as ensure continued funding support from the national AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps members and site supervisors from the Wausau School District, Marathon County Literacy Council, and the Girl Scouts participated in focus group sessions. The following topics were discussed:

• Barriers to member recruitment
• Challenges to successful program implementation
• Member retention
• Tracking participation and retention
• Suggestions for bringing on more sites

Generated reports are being used to make concrete improvements to NCCAP recruitment, member and site retention, and data collection strategies.
