Introducing WIPPS state director of development

Aaron Zitzelsberger has joined WIPPS as state director of development. His duties include managing fundraising efforts as well as coordinating many of WIPPS’ statewide events, including the Obey/Petri Civic Participation Series.

Aaron is passionate about working with a wide variety organizations “to build sustainable fundraising for WIPPS in order to further growth and increase impact.” On July 1, 2016, WIPPS will no longer receive funding from UW Colleges, and the need to seek outside support is essential for WIPPS to continue its programming.

Prior to his arrival at WIPPS, Aaron was director of corporate development at Overture Center for the Arts in Madison. His earlier development work was with the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo as vice president for advancement; and the University of Wisconsin Foundation as director of development – corporate and foundation relations.

“The best thing about working in development is the opportunity to make a lasting impression on the organization with which you work. It also allows me to to meet amazing people and work one-on-one with them on philanthropic opportunities, which are very personal decisions.”

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from UW-Madison and a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.

Aaron and his wife, Sarah, both alums of Wausau East High School, are excited to return to Wausau, where they are raising their two sons, Jack, 2, and Grant, six months.
