Obey-Petri Series to launch April tour
The Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS), David R. Obey Civic Resource Center and Wisconsin Humanities Council present a unique opportunity for students and the general public to hear directly from two long-time congressional leaders.
Retired U.S. Congressmen Dave Obey, from Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, and Tom Petri, from Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District, will launch the second leg of the Obey, Petri Civic Participation Series at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The event will be in Tripp Commons at Memorial Union.
“These long-time public servants care deeply about America, and the importance of citizen involvement and awareness of how our government works,” said Eric Giordano, WIPPS director. “They are eager to share their experiences and expertise on a wide variety of domestic and international policy issues.”
During the second week of March, Obey and Petri talked to nearly 1,000 community residents at campuses in Marshfield, Rhinelander, Ashland, Rice Lake and Cadott.
