WIPPS welcomes back legendary performer Peter Yarrow for a concert on June 18 at the Grand Theater in Wausau. The concert will help commemorate WIPPS’ 10 years of promoting civic engagement and community involvement.
As one-third of the legendary, Grammy award-winning 1960s folk trio, Peter, Paul and Mary, Yarrow co-wrote and sang hits like “Puff the Magic Dragon,” one of the most popular children’s songs of all time. Other hit songs performed included “Five Hundred Miles” and “Lemon Tree,” as well as covers of Pete Seeger’s “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” and “If I Had a Hammer.”
A strong proponent of anti-bullying efforts in our nation’s schools, he co-founded “Operation Respect” nearly 20 years ago, and continues to present at schools using a school curriculum of music and role playing that emphasizes empathy and civility.
