New program manager joins WIPPS
A familiar face at UW-Marathon County has joined WIPPS as the new program manager.
Julie Bunczak was a French lecturer at UWMC for 10 years before becoming UWMC’s L&FA coordinator in July 2014. In this role, she is responsible for coordinating several artist residencies during the school year, guest lectures and other special events on campus – such as the 24-Hour Arts Challenge.
“My responsibilities with WIPPS are very similar to those I have with L&FA, but the audiences will be different,” Julie noted. She looks forward to collaborating with individuals and organizations in the larger Wausau community. “I am also excited about finding opportunities to integrate L&FA and WIPPS events. The Veninga Lectures, for example, have typically included a student-focused event that has always been well received.”
Julie will work on programming for the 2017 Veninga Lecture Series (spring and fall) and the Public Issues Series, as well as managing many WIPPS events, chairing the Program Planning Committee and some grant writing.
A native of Milwaukee, Julie has lived in Wausau since 1995. She earned her bachelor’s degree in French and communication from Marquette University and a master’s degree in foreign language education from Ohio State University. In 2013 she was awarded the UW Colleges “Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence.”
She and her husband, Paul, have two children. In her free time, she enjoys travel, most notably to France, and is an avid reader of fiction.
