Kids Voting: High School Student Civic Participation Project
WIPPS partners with Kids Voting USA-Wisconsin to help educate young people learn about the importance of civic participation. WIPPS supported KVUSA’s biennial mock convention and election, which simulated Wisconsin’s 2014 gubernatorial contest. More than 200 high school students from nearly 30 area high schools participated in the convention which simulates the actual state party conventions. On election day, more than 14,000 ballots were cast by K-12 students in central Wisconsin schools. Finally, WIPPS creates a biennial high school civic participation survey to measure the engagement of the current generation of students.
